Metal Mesh is the home of sieving screen filtration mesh in Australia and New Zealand. Bolting Cloth in stainless steel is similar to a standard woven wire mesh, but with increased open area for high-capacity sifting processes. This is achieved by using thinner diameter wires when weaving the fine mesh sieve. Now also available in FDA compliant food-grade materials.
Hollander Weave stainless steel filter cloth is used for fine filtration of liquid products. It is available in Plain Weave or Twilled Weave (TW), also known as Plain Dutch Weave or Dutch Twilled Weave. In the Plain Weave, the warp wires are stronger than the weft wires. The so-called Zero Mesh is created by positioning the weft wires as closely as possible together. The specific benefits are a good flow rate and even precise openings.
The TW type Twilled Weave mesh is a product where the weaving process involves forcing the weft wires together during weaving. This type of mesh has double the number of weft wires compared to the Plain Dutch Weave, providing a particularly smooth surface for ultra-fine filtration.

What are sieving/screening/filtration meshes?
Our sieving/screening/filtration meshes are a type of woven mesh that is designed for a specific purpose. We have three types available:
- Bolting Cloth made from stainless steel is similar to woven wire
mesh but with a finer wire. It’s used for high-volume sifting and
screening in the mining, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and
beverage industries. - Hollander Plain Weave is made from 304 or 316-grade stainless
steel and has the weft wires positioned as close as possible to one
another. It’s often used for the fine filtration of liquid products at
high flow rates. - Hollander Twilled Weave is made from 304 or 316-grade stainless
steel and has double the number of weft wires as the Hollander
Plain Weave. This creates much smaller openings that are required
for ultra-fine filtration.
How are sieving/screening/filtration meshes made?
Bolting Cloth mesh is made by weaving strands of stainless steel wire horizontally and vertically to create an open weave mesh. Hollander Plain Weave and Hollander Twilled Weave mesh are made from 304 or 316- grade stainless steel wire in the same way as the Bolting Cloth mesh just with closer positioning of the weft wires.
What types of sieving/screening/filtration mesh are available?
Bolting Cloth mesh comes in a standard 1580mm width roll and is available in rolls or can be cut to size (also available in FDA food-grade quality and a magnetised version). Hollander Plain Weave and Hollander Twilled Weave come in standard widths of 1220mm and 1570mm and are available in rolls or cut-to-size sheets and discs.
What are the applications of sieving/screening/filtration mesh?
Bolting Cloth mesh is used for high-volume sifting and screening within the food and beverage industry, as well as in the mining, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Hollander Palin Weave is used for the fine filtration of liquids within the Edible oils, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, plastics- or wastewater industries; Hollander Twilled Weave is used for ultra-fine filtration in these same industries.
